Better Homes has been created to help residents across Yorkshire pay less for energy and live in healthier, warmer homes. Residents in the participating 10 Local Authority areas will be able to take advantage of the latest Government funding options to make energy efficiency improvement works to their homes.

Improvements which may be available include standard and hard to treat wall insulation, new boilers, replacement windows and doors, new central heating systems and renewable technologies such as solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.

The Housing Solutions Service can help you to find, keep and maintain an affordable home.

Housing Solutions can support you if you are living in a privately rented house and your landlord has not carried out necessary repairs, or if they do not have up-to-date safety certificates. You can also get help and support if you're homeless or threatened with homelessness.

Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH) – manages council homes and tenancies on behalf of Kirklees Council. Specialist staff can provide you with advice about staying warm and saving energy and can help you better understand your fuel bills, running costs, and changing suppliers.

They can also advise on damp and condensation issues.

They have a team of money advisors who can help with budgeting, debt and benefits. These services are confidential and free to council tenants.

Pass It On are a local charity shop specialising in large furniture items, so whether it's a bed or sofa they can usually help. They offer a wide range of stock across 2 floors which is regularly updated thanks to their local delivery and collection service.
They also sell brand new beds and cookers together with reconditioned items such as fridge/freezers and washing machines. All items offered for sale conform to the required regulations.

The charity's aim is to assist the local community with their needs, whether it's buying from them or donating. All monies raised through the sale goods helps to support a wide variety of projects which Yorkshire Children's Centre offer to support everyone, helping them make positive changes to improve their lives.
