Welcome Mentors project offers a volunteer support/befriending service to Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants to help them navigate through what can be a complicated process to starting again in new environment. Mentors help to reduce some of the barriers, alleviate the feeling of isolation and help refugees, asylum seekers and migrants settle in Kirklees.

https://welcometokirklees.blog/welcome-mentors/

One critical barrier to being able to settle and integrate in a new area is being able to communicate in English, speak to neighbours, make friends and develop local networks outside of those that speak your own language – ‘This way for English’ aims to address this by offering English language assessments and referrals/signpost to appropriate support.
